I've enjoyed your family's music at Cotati for years. I'm considering buying an accordion to play musci similar to yours. I already own an 48 bass Bugari, and I'm considering buying either a Hohner Panther or Compadre. I'm leaning towards the Compadre. I want a decent instrument to learn on, but I don't want to go overboard.

I had the pleasure of seeing (and moreso, of hearing) Los Compas at the Cotati Accordian Festival some years ago. Saturday I had the pleasure of hearing Mr. Govea perform on Trumpet, as well as accordion and bass, at the Tradewinds Bar in Cotati, with some members of two other bands. It was a rare treat. On Sunday I was expecting to see Los Compas at the Accordion Festival, but was very pleased by the performance of La Familia Govea - Pena, which was the favorite one of that day for both my wife and myself.
Thanks for your dedication and devotion to this music, and for passing it along to your children. We appreciate that many of the songs you play are cultural and atistic treasures, and it is our good fortune to hear you play them so beautifully.

I happen to know the Govea Family personally, and am a good friend of Margaret Govea, the mom and I also knew Jessica Govea, from our days as volunteers with the Farmworker movement, and I feel really blessed to know such a talented family. The whole family is an inspiration to everyone. Each has his or her own talent and are a very united family, which is something good to see in this day and age, when some families are not so family oriented. They have always treated me, like a member of their family, and I'm sure others feel the same. I have a couple of their CD, which I enjoy tremendously. Especially the Noteno, and Salsa, which I happen to love !
